The Emperor's New Groove

The Emperor’s New Groove is an academy award nominated animated Disney film. Although the title refers to Hans Christian Anderson’s story, the Emperor’s New Clothes, that is really all the movie, The Emperor’s New Groove has in common with the classic tale.

The Emperor’s New Groove is the story of a self centered young ruler, who survives a poisoning attempt only to become a Llama. We follow the Emperor Kuzko as he is rescued by Pacha, a villager he sought to evict from his mountain home, in order to build a summer resort. Thanks to Disney animation we find a jungle populated with coffee shops and secret plots.

Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove received an Academy Award nomination for the song “My Funny Friend and Me”. The song was performed for the animation by Sting. The original concept of the Disney film was a more traditional musical, The Kingdom of the Sun.

The Emperor’s New Groove sparked a direct to video sequel, Kronk’s New Groove in 2005. In January 2006, The Emperor’s New School was added to the television lineup as a series. These were the offshoots of Disney’s The Emperor’s New Groove Movie.
