The Fox and the Hound is a cute story that focuses on an incredible friendship, between Tod, the fox and Copper the dog. The story of a friendship formed when the characters are just kids, and life is innocent. Disney's original The Fox and the Hound looks on the surface like just a cute story, but is also a movie that brings tears to the eyes of viewers.

The Fox and the Hound was released in 1981. At the time of its release it was the most expensive Disney animated movie released, the twenty fourth from the Disney studios. It seems to mark the changing of the guard in the animation studio, with the new, young animators emerging.

The movie The Fox and the Hound deals with friendship and conflict. It is the tale of what happens when two characters who should be enemies grow up as friends and playmates. In the end they meet in a destined conflict.

Notably, this Classic Gold Collection Disney movie was the last one to have all the credits on the title page. It ended with the traditional 'The End, A Walt Disney Production'. This was a very fitting end to the animation that marked the defection of Don Bluth and his animation team from the Disney Studios.
