The Wild, a Disney animated film, has been criticized as being very similar to the animated Dreamworks film Madagascar. Animators however state that they were working on The Wild for over a decade, long before Madagascar came out. Both animated animal movies were set in New York.
The plot of The Wild involves having a young lion running away from the zoo and then later being kidnapped His seeks to find him, accompanied by a snake, a koala, a giraffe and a squirrel.1 A cult of Wildebeests is the primary opposition to the safe return of the young lion, Ryan.
Disney released this computer animated video in April 2006. It is not the first Disney animated film to have a close release date with a similar DreamWorks picture so the criticisms are not new. The Wild has had a world wide release profile including Scandinavian TV.
The promotion and release of The Wild was not very large. It only had Kraft, McDonalds, and Amazon selling movie linked items on the site and Buena Vista Games. Other Walt Disney linked companies include Walt Disney Book Publishing Worldwide and Walt Disney Records. |
