Toy Story 2 keeps many of the original characters of the original Disney animated Toy Story film. It was an academy award nominated film on its own. The story comes to life both on the screen and in the hearts and minds of viewers.
Woody is injured; his arm is torn before Andy is to leave for Cowboy Camp. He must stay behind. The story tells of him being kidnapped by a collector, Al, of Al's Toybarn.
Once enemies, but now friends, Buzz sets out to rescue Woody, with the help of others including Mr. Potato Head and Slinky. Meanwhile Woody meets the characters that had been his costars in Woody's Roundup, a 'classic' children's show. The animated Toy Story 2 features re makes of the song 'You've Got a Friend in Me' in its Oscar nominated screenplay.
Although originally Disney asked Pixar to make a sequel that would go direct to video with Toy Story 2, the imagery was so terrific it was reworked into a 90 minute theatrical release. It contains segments that are much more dramatic than the first concept. It grossed $ 245,000,000 when released initially.
The success of Toy Story 2 as a Disney animation surpassed the original by far.1 It has actually surpassed all other animated movies except the Lion King and Shrek 2 in earnings.1 After the successful release of Toy Story 2 we can be sure that the Disney audience is anxiously anticipating the release of Toy Story 3.
