Walt Disney Feature Animation film, Treasure Planet was released in 2002. The film is a science fiction adaptation of the novel of adventure, Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson.
This Disney animated movie was created in a unique manner. The story was drawn in the traditional 2D style, and then overlaid on a 3D computer animation back drop. It was also unique as it was the first film released simultaneously on IMAX, while also released in the regular theaters.
Like almost all other Disney animated movies, Treasure Planet introduces its own new music including the song Silver Leaves. Some describe it as a cross between Celtic music and modern music ala Star Wars. Sound effects were often done by antique wind up toys.
Disney animated movies have a long tradition of wonderful workmanship and family entertainment. That is one of the attractions for actors, allowing them to be a part of the tradition. Treasure Planet was envisioned to be more than cold steel blue outer space adventure, but had a warm environment that made this movie a lot of fun.
